Katherine + Jordan: The Most Gorgeous Backyard Wedding in South Pasadena

A Family Tradition, a Custom Wedding Gown, Purple Bread, A Vintage Car Photo-booth, Parasails, Twinkle Lights, and Heirloom Persian Rugs

This is 100% going to be one of those blog posts where I type too much and overshare details, lending to an incredibly long gallery of images, but I swear I CANNOT HELP IT. The sweetest personal touches, bright natural colors, and endless stunning details made Katherine (Kato) and Jordan (Jordy) the stars of the most beautiful backyard wedding I could have ever imagined! With endless creative touches and the ability to turn her childhood home into a wedding venue of any brides dream, Kato may have the best wedding style in the entire world!   Don’t believe that Kato has seriously the best wedding style in the entire world? Then scroll on ahead and let me prove you wrong.

Kato and Jordy got ready at the Langham Hotel in South Pasadena, just a quick jet away from Kato’s childhood home where preparations were being made to transform the already beautiful backyard into a garden oasis. Kato’s dress - which may have been the heaviest and prettiest dress I have ever held due to her hand selected and placed lace - was custom made by a designer in Hollywood. This A-line beauty had a delicate silk chiffon off the shoulder ruffle, giving it a feminine touch as unique as this dreamy day! Her veil had individually cut pieces from her lace hand placed and sewn at the hem, waterfalling along the edge and adding to the vision of beauty!

Kato and Jordy had a first look of smiles and giddiness before taking some romantic, wild, and sweet bridal party photos. Her bridesmaids, adorned in different dresses of blue, reflected all the joy of the day as they smiled at the beautiful bride. After swooning under the bougainvillea and palm trees on the Langham lawn, the party made their way through the neighborhood to her mother’s house, where they tucked away as guests arrived.

One of my favorite moments from before the ceremony was when Kato asked to have her photos taken in front of her family’s photo wall. Getting married in her childhood home was precious to her for two reasons. Her brother had been married there a year before, so following in his footsteps made for a sweet family tradition. But even more tenderly, it was the perfect way to bring her late father into the celebration of the day. All of the special moments this family had shared together made her childhood home an irreplaceable wedding venue.

The two tied the knot at the altar whilst standing upon a family heirloom Persian rug that normally rests in their library study and cheered the entire way back up the aisle. Cocktail hour in the front yard was full of parasails to keep cool and signature drinks designed by the bride and groom. They also brought in a vintage model car and filled it with florals and blooms from the incredible Fibers and Florals in the driveway to serve as a photo booth for their guests!!

Meanwhile, the backyard was transformed into the most stunning reception area. The tables with their sweet blue details and long elegant white candles were to die for! Their caterer also had a signature bread they designed that was a huge part of the pale blue and purple decor. These purple bread loaf slices - known as the Purple Karma Swirl Loaf - were made from butterfly pea blossoms and purple karma barley! Bread is my love language so you know I was in seventh heaven when the baker asked if I would like a bread demonstration. WHO EVER SAYS NO TO A BREAD DEMONSTRATION?!

In lieu of a grand exit, Kato and Jordy opted for a grand entrance with their bridal party and close family friends welcoming them to the reception with a sparkler tunneler, immediately going into their first dance! The couple shared their first dance amidst a dreamy circle of sparklers held aloft by the people they love the most!

As soft spring daylight gave way to the twinkle of nighttime stars and tears had been shed over the many sweet toasts, Kato changed into her second, short ruffled party dress before making her way back onto the dance floor for the rest of the evening!

It was a magical day full of all the personal touches to make it their special memory and all of the dreamy details to make it the envy of any bride to be!
