Nora + Max: Afternoon Wedding at the Epona Estate
Rose Gardens, Willow Trees, and a Sunset Reception Under String Lights
Nora and Max got married at the Epona Estate in early June! The couple had previously settled on a different venue, but after the fires burned down their original choice, they were in need of some place new! It turned out to be a blessing in disguise for the wedding day when they came upon the Epona Estate and fell in love! This outdoor estate, nestled between horse states, winery trestles, and panoramic mountain backdrops was the perfect setting for their incredibly romantic wedding.
After getting the opportunity to know these two during their fun and edgy engagement shoot through Downtown LA’s Art District and Grand Central Market, I was so excited to capture their wedding! Max’s lighthearted demeanor and Nora’s genuine, sweet temperament make them a joy to be around and bodes very well for their happy future as husband and wife!
Nora got ready in the picturesque Estate house full of sweet details that added to the beauty of those precious hours. Adorable horse illustrations, vintage chairs, and antique furniture lent themselves to the timeless look of the day. While Nora finished with hair and makeup, together her mom and mother-in-law to be steamed the wedding gown and veil one last time, treasuring the opportunity to make everything perfect for their childrens’ wedding day. Soon, Nora was being buttoned in to her stunning, laced bodice gown and adorning herself in her sweet family heirlooms: a harp pin, emerald and diamond earrings, and an heirloom wedding perfume. Meanwhile Max shared champagne toasts with his closest guys, while his mother pinned his boutonniere just before the first look.
Nora and Max shared an intimate first look under a willow tree, between the draping curtained leaves. Max teared up when he saw his bride and the two shared a few sweet, lingering kisses before quickly heading down the aisle to say” I do"!” Nora and Max’s sisters - one from each side - officiated the wedding together in a tandem ceremony in their stunning floor length red gowns. It was so wonderful and sweet to see this celebration from both sides of the family against the open, mountainous backdrop! They chose to participate in a tying ceremony, binding their hands together in a cloth to signify the oneness of covenant they were about to enter in to before exchanging rings and vows. It was a tender and joyful moment!
Their afternoon wedding quickly faded into sunset toasts and dancing at dusk, where everyone enjoyed the entire evening celebrating! The string lights kept the part gong as friends and family loved on the newlyweds! One of my favorite details at Nora and Max’s wedding was the heirloom cake knife that had previous generations of marriages names and wedding dates carved upon it to be passed down for generations to come! Nora and Max’s wedding was sweet and picturesque from start to finish and it was such a joy to capture every sacred moment for these two!
