Rachel + Vince: Tropical Meets Santa Barbara at a Mission Style Spanish Church
Influenced by a Hawaiian Engagement, this Tropical Santa Barbara Wedding is Full of Tropical Goodness and Wedding Sweetness
Rachel and Vince’s classic Catholic church wedding with tropical Hawaiin influences was as easy going and sweet as the couple themselves! Rachel embodied the calm certainty of true love as she slipped into her fitted, lace backed gown with cathedral length veil, pulling the look together with dainty anklets and a nude heel. She absolutely glowed, her hair falling in loose ringlets draping her smiling face as she did a twirl for her closest girls. Their sweet smiles and clasped hands proclaimed her a vision and their happy chatter sent her on her way nextdoor to a private rooftop first look with Vince.
They shared soft smiles and lingering pre-wedding kisses before bucking tradition by enjoying their wedding day side by side rather than being kept apart! They strolled the streets together as husband and wife-to-be before sliding into a waiting car headed to the ceremony!
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church is a stunning Spanish style cathedral with pueblo walls and overgrown succulent gardens. The building boasts a muted sunset look and the big blue and green doors swing wide to invite you into the breathtaking church. With gold chandeliers and vibrant wood beamed ceilings, this gem of a church may be one of my very favorite venues. So beloved are Rachel and Vince that the pews filled up in no time and their wedding became standing room only! No one minded for a moment though, too enthralled with the ceremony that turned these sweet individuals into a lifelong team.
Their ceremony was special and Holy, honoring their faith and leaving not a dry eye in the room as they listened to scripture, received blessings, took communion, and exchanged rings with their covenant vows. A sweet kiss was the cherry on top as they ran back up the aisle together to enjoy a private moment before the party began!
And began it did! Their reception was held at a golf course that had special significance to the newlyweds, which had been totally redone to reflect the tropical look they were going for! Lush greens and bright flowers set the stage for this Hawaiin style party: each table setting complete with papaya fruit and cascading florals. Their live band, The Lucky Devils, quickly set the tone with their exuberant energy and impressive skill, getting people up and breaking in the dance floor before the reception had even officially begun! The dancing never stopped, soon giving way to a human limbo pole, soccer tunnels, and even a piggyback competition!
From the giggly getting ready moments to the sweet exchange of vows to the lively celebration of new marriage - this was a wedding I’m not likely to forget soon and a marriage that will undoubtedly be filled with all the support, love, and joy on display that day.
