Kate + Theron: Cozy at Home Engagement Photos in their Sunlit LA Apartment with their Dachshund

Engagement photos for Kate and Theron look a little bit like taking a quiet moment to reflect and commemorate this moment in their lives together. The best way we could celebrate this moment of their engagement and this happy time of their lives was to remember these warm, sunlit days with their dachshund, Inu, in tow by capturing their little family in the place they call home. As next year may bring new cities and apartments into their lives, having this sacred spot documented was really special.

I was able to document the daily routines of coffee in the kitchen, cuddles in bed, sitting in armchairs beside their Rosebowl Flea Market art treasures, and dancing in the living room in my morning with Kate and Theron. This cozy at home engagement photo shoot captured laughs and joy, tequila shots, and a day in the life of these two in their neighborhood.

In addition to the moments shared at home, Kate and Theron also ventured into Los Feliz to a french cafe for some afternoon treats as well as slushies at 7-eleven. Kate’s one request was taking a moment to stop in front of the Los Feliz theater, a charming little purple and yellow building boasting a few showtimes of each latest film.

I made sure to incorporate a lot of 35mm film when shooting this engagement photo set. To me, 35mm film has this inherently nostalgic quality to it, and as these photos are meant to serve as a memory of this particular moment in a very personal way, I wanted the grit of that feeling to be felt in the photographs in another tactile way.
