Superstition Mountains, Arizona Sunrise Photos for Traveling Couple

Katelyn and Zach are currently living a bit of an unconventional year. Zach’s work is taking them all around the United States from anywhere from a few weeks to a few months at a time! Never going back to the same place twice, this young couple has decided to make the most of their United States adventure by documenting themselves in each city they get to call home for a little while. Together, we connected to capture and remember their time in Phoenix, Arizona at the Superstition Mountains.

The Superstition Mountains are a range of mountains located in central Arizona, USA. The mountains are part of the Tonto National Forest and are approximately 40 miles east of Phoenix. The Superstitions are known for their rugged terrain, towering peaks, and unique geological formations, including distinctive spires and hoodoos. They are also home to many legends and tales of lost treasures, making them a popular destination for hikers, rock climbers, and adventurers. For us, we loved them because the grounds and trails all surrounding the mountains are full of the popular Saguaro Cacti, the symbol of the American Southwest.

The Saguaro Cacti is protected in many places of Arizona, meaning they cannot be removed once they have started to grow. Because of this, they are arguably the image and thing/plant most commonly associated with Arizona. Finding a spot where we could be immersed in thesee cacti gardens was the perfect way to bring the Arizona landscape into their photos to really remember their time in Phoenix by,
