Formal Sunrise Engagement Session at Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, CA

Nothing says classic Los Angeles, quite like the Griffith Observatory.

I have spoken about the historical importance, significance, and legacy that Griffith Observatory holds to Los Angeles in a few of my other blog posts from other engagement photo sessions that have taken place there - such as Madison and Charlie’s engagement photos as well as Kelli and Lorenzo’s engagement photos. Griffith Observatory is a historical landmark of Los Angeles, most commonly known at the gorgeous art deco building at the top of Griffith Park, overlooking the iconic Hollywood Sign. In more recent years, Griffith Observatory has been recognized as a classical Los Angeles backdrop after it’s appearance in the film La La Land. As it is a popular film location, and a classical art deco backdrop featuring patina copper turned teal, it was the perfect backdrop for actress Katie Callaway and her finacé Kyle to capture their enaggement photos.

When Katie Callaway, an American actress originally from Nashville, TN got engaged to her boyfriend Kyle and reached out to me to capture their engagement, I was thrilled. Their wedding venue in Nashville, where they are getting married in the summer of 2023 features lots of iron detailing on the historical property. It has teal elements in the architecture, and wanting a cohesive look between their wedding venue and their engagement photo venue (even though both were happening on opposite coasts of the United States), Griffith Observatory perfectly captured the style of what they were hoping for. With the clean white walls with the teal wooden doors and metal at deco grates, the place was picture perfect for this beautiful couple!
