Sara + Rob: Downtown Palm Springs Engagement Photos Full of Color and Mid Century Style

As a Southern California photographer, one of my favorite “day trips” from Los Angeles is Palm Springs! I love its quirky corners, mid century architecture, desert landscape, and bougainvillea vines that are seemingly always in season. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to capture a beautiful engagement photo shoot in the heart of Palm Springs for Sara and Rob as they visited this spring! The shoot took place in several iconic locations, including The Ace Hotel, The Saguaro Hotel, and the bustling downtown Palm Springs areas off of Main Street.

The Nashville couple, Sara and Rob, wore two outfits during the session, each showcasing a unique style. The first outfit was a groovy, brightly colored floral ensemble that gave me all the mod vibes of the late 60s. The second was more simple, with muted pastels, exemplifying the classic rehearsal dinner style look of casual formalwear. Robs’s colored checkered shirt and pink pants absolutely brought together the whole look! Both outfits complemented the desert landscape perfectly and highlighted the couple's playful and joyful personalities.

Palm Springs is so electric that it feels so effortlessly like the perfect backdrop to blend editorial-style photos with a candid, documentary-style style. Between laughing while twirling down hotel corridors and sharing a quiet, tender moment underneath the bougainvillea, this engagement photo shoot has a little bit of everything!

Our first stop was at The Ace Hotel, which provided a perfect backdrop for the couple's photos. With its mid-century modern design and retro ambiance, it was the ideal location for the groovy floral outfit. The pops of color from the couple's attire were enhanced by the bold patterns and colors of the hotel's décor.

Next, we ventured to The Saguaro Hotel, a colorful gem nestled in the heart of Palm Springs. The bright, floral print dress Sara wore blended seamlessly with the hotel's playful and lively atmosphere. The hotel's colorful exterior provided a stunning backdrop for some of the most stunning shots of the day.

Finally, we explored the bustling downtown Palm Springs area, which offered a vibrant and eclectic mix of street art and architecture. The colorful murals and storefronts added to the playful and energetic nature of the session. Some of my favorite backdrops we stopped at were surprisingly banks and the local KFC - the mid century architecture truly takes over every corner of Palm Springs in the best way possible.

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to document this beautiful engagement shoot in Palm Springs. It was an amazing day spent with a wonderful couple, and I wish them all the best as they prepare for their upcoming fall wedding on the East Coast!!
